Most Gamoteca learning experiences (games) are two-player games (depending on the number of roles). In some instances the creator has allowed players to be randomly assigned a game partner. If this is the case you will be able to immediately connect with another learner to play with you or you will be paired with the next person who joins that game in a different role.

In the second instance it's up to the player to invite a person to join the game, in which case it’s up to you to invite a friend or colleague to play with you. Invite anyone you want to play a Gamoteca game with you following these simple steps.

Before you start, remember that if you do not have a fellow learner you are able to begin playing a Gamoteca game right until it's necessary for another player to participate. Then you will have to wait until someone joins to play with you. Some games allow for solo participation all the way through the pathway if no one else joins.

You can follow these steps on the browser version of Gamoteca play.gamoteca.com or on the Gamoteca App, available for Android and IOS if you haven’t already.

1. Sign-in to your Gamoteca account and choose the game you want to play.

If you are playing a game through a Learning Management System then remember to start the game using the link provided and follow the same steps of this guide.

2. On the game details page, click/tap the Play Game button.

3. Choose a role and the Select button (Don’t worry, in most games it doesn’t matter which role you take).

4. You will then join the game and will receive an email confirmation, the game will start and if this is a two player game you will be able to advance in the game until the point where the other players have to intervene.

When the moment the other player has to join comes, you will have to invite them to play with you. These are the two ways of Inviting someone to play a game Invite with Link and Invite with Game Code.

Invite with Link:

Click on the orange Invite Players button and automatically an invitation will be copied in your clipboard with a URL for someone else to join the game. Paste this invitation to Whatsapp or an Email (or any other messaging platform) and share it with the person you want to play.

Use the Invite Players button when the player you are inviting is someone who is not familiar with Gamoteca.

Take a look at this video explaining how to do it:

Invite with Game Code:

Click on the "Details" tab and you will see the instructions of how to share the game code. The game code is an alphanumerical 6 digit unique code for that game. Share it with whoever you want to invite to play, they will have to open the Gamoteca app or website and input the code. The video bellow explains how to a player can do that.

Using the Share Game Code works best if the player you’re inviting is already familiar with Gamoteca and will understand how to join a game using a code

5. Click/Tap on the orange “Invite Players” button and an invitation message and game-specific URL will be copied to your clipboard. Paste the invitation and URL in a Whatsapp message or email and share it with the person you want to play with.

Alternatively, Click/Tap on the white or share game code button, and an invitation message and game code will be copied to your clipboard. Paste the invitation and game code and share it with the person you want to play.

6. The person you sent the invitation to will also need to create a Gamoteca account. They will receive your message and when they click the link they will be redirected to the game, if they don’t have an account they will be prompted to create one or to sign in.

7. Once they click/tap the link they will be taken to the game introduction page, they will need to click the “Join game” button and they will automatically be assigned the role you didn’t choose. Scroll down and you will see that both players are listed.
