Understanding Group Class user assignments
Assigning Group Class values to users creates sophisticated access control that ensures team members can only view and work with data relevant to their specific responsibilities. This approach aligns system access with operational accountability.
Why Group Class user assignments matter:
Security Alignment: Ensure users only access data relevant to their operational responsibilities
Regional Accountability: Enable regional heads to focus on their specific geographic areas
Department Focus: Allow department managers to access only their relevant business segments
Compliance Support: Meet audit and regulatory requirements for appropriate data access controls
Common assignment scenarios:
US Regional Head: Accesses only US Group Classes and data
Sales Manager: Accesses only Sales-related Group Classes
CTO: Accesses only Tech function financial data
Step 1: Access Users & Roles management
From your GATHER.nexus dashboard, navigate to the Users & Roles section. Click on the Users tile to access user management
(The GATHER.nexus platform dashboard showing the Users & Roles section with "Users" highlighted, providing access to comprehensive user management tools.)
Step 2: Review your user list

Class Categories: Lists available Group Classes (e.g., "Regional Classifications")
Class Values: Shows individual classification values available for assignment
Selection Controls: Checkboxes for each Group Class value
ℹ️ Note: You can assign multiple Group Classes to one user.
Step 6: Select appropriate Group Class values
Choose the specific Group Class values that align with the user's responsibilities:
Functional Assignment Examples:
CTO: ✓ Tech, ✗ Sales, ✗ Finance, ✗ HR
Head of Operations: ✓ Finance, ✓ HR, ✗ Tech, ✗ Sales
Global Finance Lead: ✓ Tech, ✓ Sales, ✓ Finance, ✓ HR
💡Tip: Only assign Group Class values that directly align with the user's operational responsibilities. This maintains security whilst ensuring they have appropriate access to perform their duties effectively.
Step 7: Save Group Class assignments
After selecting the appropriate Group Class values, click Save to apply the access control configuration.
(The Group Class assignment interface with the "Save" button highlighted to complete the access control configuration.)
The system will immediately apply the new access controls, ensuring the user can only access data and functionality related to their assigned Group Class values.
