How to Create a Crypto Wallet on MetaMask

Crypto can look complicated at first – but once you know the basics, it’s actually very simple. This guide walks you through creating a secure wallet, buying crypto inside it, and getting ready to make fast, smooth transactions in Singapore.

  • Create a MetaMask wallet

  • Buy crypto directly inside your wallet

  • Back up your recovery phrase safely

Getting Started 🔐

You only need two things:

1️⃣ A Crypto Wallet

This is where you hold your crypto.

We recommend:

  • MetaMask – mobile + browser extension

MetaMask non-custodial, meaning you own your funds, not an exchange.

2️⃣ A Way to Buy Crypto

These services are called on-ramps.

You can buy using:

  • Credit/debit card

  • Apple Pay or Google Pay

  • Bank transfer (where supported)

Wallets connect to trusted providers like:

  • MoonPay

  • Transak

  • Ramp
    ​

They accept SGD, USD, and other fiat currencies, and send crypto straight to your wallet.

🟢 STEP 1 – Create Your Wallet on MetaMask

Available as a mobile app and Chrome extension.

Supports Ethereum and other EVM networks.

Note: MetaMask only shows the Ethereum Network by default – all other networks must be added manually.

Add other networks to MetaMask by opening the network selector, choosing Add Network, and entering the network details

Desktop Setup for Chrome (Similar on all other browsers)

  1. Go to Chrome Web Store

  2. Search MetaMask

  3. Click Add to Chrome

  4. Open extension → create a wallet

  5. Save your Recovery Phrase offline

Mobile Setup

  • Download the MetaMask app

  • Create or import a wallet via 12 word recovery/seed phrase

  • Save your recovery phrase securely

  • Write it on paper and store securely (never save online)

Add Networks to MetaMask 🔗

MetaMask starts with Ethereum only.

To add new networks:

Settings → Networks → Add Network

Recommended:

  • BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) – USDT/USDC

  • Polygon (POL) – USDT/USDC

⚠️ Important:

MetaMask does not support TRC-20 (the Tron network).

If you want to send or receive USDT TRC-20, you must use Trust Wallet instead.

🟢 STEP 2 — Buy Crypto Inside the Wallet

Open MetaMask → tap BUY

Choose a token:

  • USDT (recommended)

  • USDC

  • ETH or BTC (if preferred, but fees vary)

Select a provider:

  • Transak – lowest fees

  • MoonPay – easiest card purchases

  • Ramp – region dependent
    ​

Then:

  1. Enter how much you want to buy

  2. Pay with card/bank/Apple Pay

  3. Complete KYC if requested

Your crypto will arrive directly inside your wallet.
