For Genie to properly calculate your total inventory cost, you need to ensure your unit costs have been added/updated for all product variants. This will be a quick walkthrough on configuring unit costs within Shopify so Genie can provide accurate insights.
Narrowing down your products in Genie
The first step in this process is determining what products need unit costs. The most efficient way to create this list is by filtering your inventory table.
Step 1: Navigate to your inventory table within Genie.
Step 2: Add the filter "Shopify unit cost, Empty." This will only display products that have no unit costs associated with them. These products will be the ones you have to locate within Shopify.
Adding unit costs
Now that you have your list of products it's time to start adding the unit costs.
Step 3: Navigate to your Shopify account. From the products tab, select the products you identified in Genie. The easiest and most efficient way to find these products is by using the filters, tags, and search feature to grab all the products you need.
Step 4: From there select the tick box for each product, or the "select all" button if you want to select the page.
Step 5: Once you've selected the products, click the bulk edit button at the top right of the table.
This action will bring you to a page displaying all selected products and their variants.
Step 6: In the top right corner select the columns button then search for "Cost per item" and add it to the view.
Step 7: Add your unit costs to this new column by clicking the box in the same row as the product you wish to change and enter the new amount.
You can either go line by line updating the costs or click and drag to highlight multiple lines and bulk update them. This method allows you to quickly and efficiently modify unit costs within Shopify.
Step 8: After making all necessary price changes, save the changes.
And there you have it, a quick and easy way to update unit costs for your products within Shopify. Now you will be able to see accurate and updated insights within Genie.
