That article describes how to add labour/part charges to your jobs, as well as to record payments collected from your client.

What is a Charge in GeoOp?

A Charge in GeoOp corresponds to Labour, Part or Payment that needs to be recorded on your jobs and that you want to keep track of for quoting, invoicing or job profitability purpose.

  • A Labour charge corresponds to time that you want to record on your jobs for quoting or invoicing purpose ;

  • A Part charge corresponds to all material/parts that are used on a job and that you want to keep record for quoting or invoicing purpose ;

  • A Payment charge corresponds to payments you received from your client and that you want to keep track of to stay on top of your financials.

Charge Type

All charges in GeoOp can be tagged as Actual or Quoted.

  • Actual labour charge is time that has been actually worked on a job

  • Quoted labour charge is time that you want to include into your original quote.

As the job goes, you can convert a Quoted charge into an Actual.

Invoiceable charges

All charges in GeoOp can be tagged as Invoiceable (or Billable). An Invoiceable charge is a charge that you want to bill to the client and that will be included in your next invoice.

Only Invoiceable charges will be included in the invoices that you create from GeoOp.

How to add Labour Charges, Part Charges and Payments to a job?

To add a Labour Charge to a job, simply head to that job and click + > Charges > Labour, Part or Payment. Fill the corresponding form and press save once done.

Can anyone add Charges to jobs?

To be able to add Labour or Part charges in GeoOp, your GeoOp Administrator needs to grant you the "Create, edit and delete job details (not inc. Notes & Attachments)" permission.

To be able to add Payments charges in GeoOp, your GeoOp Administrator needs to grant you the "Quoting, Invoicing & Payments" permission.

How to create a custom charge?

Custom charges are labour or part charges that have been manually added to jobs by entering the following information:

  • Charge name

  • Charge description

  • Charge Rate (for labour) / Price (for parts)

  • Number of hours (for labour) / Quantity (for parts)

Step 1: select "Create custom"

Can I edit a charge?

Yes, simply tap on the Charge you want to edit and then on the pencil icon at the top right corner of your screen.

You can only edit charges that have not yet been invoiced. Once a charge is invoiced, it is locked and cannot be edited.

Can I delete a charge?

Yes, simply tap on the Charge you want to delete and then on the ... (three-dots) icon at the top right corner of your screen

Be careful, deleting a charge is permanent and cannot be reversed
