How do I transfer my cash ISA out of chip?

To transfer your cash ISA to a new provider, follow these steps:

  1. Contact your new ISA provider – They will handle the transfer process directly with us.

  2. Allow up to 15 business days – The transfer process typically takes this long to complete.

Important things to note:

  • We do not support partial transfers – You must transfer the full balance.

  • List ClearBank as the provider when initiating your transfer.

  • If your new provider requires a postal request, they should use the following address:
Chip Financial Ltd., Sixth Floor, Fora, Montacute Yards, 186 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6HU.

Where can I find my account details?

You can locate your account number and sort code in the Chip app by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to Savings > Chip Cash ISA

  2. Select Add Money > Manual Bank Transfer

  3. Confirm you will deposit from your linked bank account and continue

  4. Your account number and sort code will be displayed

Ensure your Chip app is up to date and that your bank account is linked via open banking for this option to be available.

What happens after my ISA is transferred out?

  • Once your transfer is complete, your Chip Cash ISA will be automatically closed and cannot be reopened.

  • From April 2024, you can subscribe to and hold multiple cash ISAs within the same tax year. However, your £20,000 ISA allowance is shared across all ISAs you hold. You do not need to close one cash ISA before opening another.

Cancelling an ISA transfer request

Can Chip guarantee my cancellation request will be successful?

  • We cannot guarantee that your cancellation request will be successful.

  • ISA transfers can be processed at any time within the 15-business-day timeframe, and if your transfer has already been completed, we won’t be able to stop it.
