How do I transfer my cash ISA out of Chip?

To move your cash ISA to a new provider, you'll need to start the process with them. They will handle the transfer directly with us.

Important things to know:

  • The transfer usually takes up to 15 business days to complete.

  • We can only transfer the full balance of your cash ISA, not a partial amount.

  • When requesting a transfer out with a different provider, please put 'full' next to previous and current years' subscriptions, even if you don't have any. This is due to our processes and other providers' forms.

  • If you're transferring out from the Chip Cash ISA, list ClearBank as the provider. If it's the Smart Cash ISA, list Chip as the provider.

  • If your new provider requires a postal request, they should use the following address: ​Chip Financial Ltd., Sixth Floor, Fora, Montacute Yards, 186 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6HU.

  • Once the transfer out has been successfully processed, Chip will close your Chip Cash ISA or Smart Cash ISA (depending on which account you're transferring out), and currently, you will be unable to open another one with Chip in the same tax year.

  • You may be able to transfer out your cash ISA into another ISA type with a different provider, but you will need to check this with your new provider to get confirmation.

  • If you transfer your Smart Cash ISA to another provider, you won’t be paid any interest that has accrued but not yet been paid.

Where can I find my account details for a cash ISA transfer?

Finding your account number and sort code (Chip Cash ISA transfer out) or ISA reference number (Smart Cash ISA transfer out) is quick and easy. Just follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your Chip app is up to date and that you have a linked bank account (you can check this in the Profile tab).

  2. Open the Chip app and go to the Savings tab.

  3. Select the account you want the details for.

  4. Tap Details in the top right-hand corner. You'll need the account number and sort code if you're transferring out from your Chip Cash ISA, and the ISA reference number if you're transferring out from the Smart Cash ISA.
