Before closing your account
There are a few things you should bear in mind when closing your Chip account:
Have you downloaded any statements you may need? You can download your statements in the Profile tab in the Accounts statements section. If you need a statement for a closed account in the future, this will need to be manually created by our support team
Have you withdrawn any remaining funds? Please make sure to withdraw any remaining balances before requesting an account closure
Do you have any pending autosaves/recurring saves or card card deposits? We will need to wait for these to clear (card deposits can take 2-3 working days to clear) before withdrawing them and proceeding to close your account
Do you have an investment account open? Please note that if you have a Stocks and Shares ISA open and you close your Chip account, you won't be able to open an investment account with us again in the future
Do you have a Chip Cash ISA open? Please note that if you have a Chip Cash ISA and you close your Chip account, you won't be able to open another Chip Cash ISA with us again in the future
How to close your account
To close your account, just head over to the Profile tab in your Chip app and scroll down and tap Delete Account. This will put you through to our Customer Success Team. From here, select Send us a Message and then I want to close my Chip account at the bottom of the screen.
Please note that just uninstalling/deleting the Chip app from your device will not close your account. An account closure must be completed by one of the team.
Once you have gone through the full deletion flow on the in-app chat, you'll receive confirmation that your account closure is being processed. You will not be able to access the app or your closed accounts after deletion.
Please carefully follow the steps on-screen and one of the team will assist you with finalising the closure of your account.
