If you have missed our previous alerts over the last year, here's what you need to know:

  • We’re improving Chip by removing our old e-wallets and replacing them with our FSCS secure account.

  • On 8 June 2022, the custody of your e-wallet passed to EML Payments Europe Limited (formally known as Prepaid Financial Services).

  • You will be required to contact EML Payments Europe Limited after this point to access your funds. An administration fee of £5.00 will apply to do this (further details below).

  • If you have a balance of £5 or under, you will not be able to request the return of your funds from EML Payments Europe Limited.

How do I access my funds after 8 June?

After 8 June 2022, you will be required to email and provide the following information to access your funds:

  • Your Chip ID (you can request this by contacting us via the app or

  • Proof of ID (Valid Passport/Driving Licence)

  • Proof of address dated within the last 3 months (Utility Bill/Bank Statement)

  • Bank Statement for the account you want the funds to be transferred to (dated within the last 3 months)

Can I withdraw my e-wallet balance by contacting Chip directly?

No, after 8 June we will direct you to EML Payments Europe Limited to access your funds. Chip will no longer have access to these e-wallets so we will not be able to make the withdrawal manually.

How can I find out how much money I have in the e-wallet?

You can message us in-app or via email ( to find out your balance, but this will only be accurate as of 8 June. After this point, our access will be stopped so we cannot give you a live balance.
