How To Deposit
Depositing into Chip is simple! Before you make a deposit, please ensure you have a full bank and card connection, as you'll need a linked bank to withdraw. You can check this or add a connection at the top of the profile tab.
Depositing into Savings
To deposit into a savings account, first head over to the Savings tab seen at the bottom of the app. Here you can see a list of Chip's available savings accounts. To deposit, just tap your selected account and click Add Money. You will then be prompted to choose your payment method and confirm the amount you wish to deposit. You might also be prompted to complete a verification of the transaction with your bank.
If the transaction has been charged successfully, you will receive confirmation of this in the app and via email.
Please note that you will only be able to deposit into the Chip Cash ISA when you securely connect your nominated bank account within the Chip app via TrueLayer or when you transfer from one of your Chip savings accounts into the Chip Cash ISA. We’re unable to accept card/wallet deposits or transfers made directly from your bank into this account.
Depositing into Investments
To deposit into an investment fund, head to the Invest tab at the bottom of the app. Here you will first have to select whether you wish to invest using a GIA (General Investment Account) or a Stocks and Shares ISA.
Next, you will need to choose which fund you want to invest in. Clicking on each of the available funds will reveal some key information and projections to help you make your choice.
Once you’re viewing the fund, you can click ‘Add money’ (if you’re depositing from your linked bank account or card) or ‘Transfer’ (if you’re depositing from a savings account within Chip or from your uninvested cash). Please note that deposits into investments can take up to eight days to clear. You might also be prompted to complete a verification of the transaction with your bank.
If the transaction has been charged successfully, you will receive confirmation of this in the app and via email.

Deposit Timeframes
Depending on the account and deposit method, the length of time a deposit will take to clear can vary. Please see below for the complete deposit times:

*CHAPS payments may take longer to process. They will arrive in your account in no more than two working days.
