Why link your debit card?
To get the most out of Chip, we need you to link both your bank account and your debit card. Linking your debit card is what allows you to make card deposits.
You can link your debit card in the Profile tab in the app.
If you're having trouble linking your card
If you're having an issue linking your card, here are the most common things to check. Please run through these options to make sure everything is set up correctly:
Make sure it's a debit card. We can't accept credit cards or other types of cards for deposits.
Check your card status. Has your card recently expired or been replaced? If so, you'll need to use the details for your new, active card.
Check with your bank. It's worth double-checking that your bank isn't automatically declining the connection request for security reasons.
Check for a block. Make sure your debit card is not currently blocked or frozen (for example, if you've recently reported it as lost).
Update the Chip app. Ensure you are running the most recent version of the Chip app, as updates often contain technical fixes.
Important: Location and VPNs
For security reasons, we won't be able to process debit card links if you are outside of the UK. If you're using a VPN, please turn it off and try connecting again, as this can make your location appear different.
