Amazon went ahead and shocked every single Amazon Associate when they announced that the image embedding features via SiteStripe would stop working.

As of December 1st, 2023, SiteStripe stopped allowing Associates to create new "Image" or "Image+Text" SiteStripe embeds.

By December 31st, 2023, every single SiteStripe image embedded will stop working.

The solution? Convert every Amazon image to using the Amazon API instead before the 31st!

And luckily, Lasso makes this easy with the SiteStripe Migrator!

Let's crack on with migrating your SiteStripe images to work with the Amazon API.

How to Import Amazon Products to Lasso Automatically with Auto-Amazon

Note: Auto-Amazon by itself does not update SiteStripe code to the Amazon API, you'll need to wait up to 48-72 hours for the migrating automation to run.

The Auto-Amazon feature can also import Amazon products found on your blog automatically, without having to use the Import tool.

Auto-Amazon scans your site regularly to find under-monetized Amazon products (without your affiliate tag) and fixes it by importing a copy into Lasso and adding your affiliate tag.

When Auto-Amazon finds products to import, they won't show on the Import tool.

This means you don't have to use the Import tool on its own if you have Enable Amazon Auto-Monetization turned on in your Amazon Settings:

How Lasso Products Appear Inside Lasso After Import

Once you've run the SiteStripe import, you should find copies of the Lasso products inside your Lasso dashboard:

SiteStripe 'Image' only embeds will likely appear as being in '0' (zero) locations.

Lasso creates a copy of the product inside Lasso and only replaces the SiteStripe code at its source to use the Amazon API.

SiteStripe 'Image+Text' embeds (iframes) are imported as full Lasso product displays and should appear with a full connection between the product in Lasso and where it is located on your site.

SiteStripe to Amazon API Daily Automation

Lasso will run an automated process in the background of your site daily that will convert any existing SiteStripe image sources it finds to using the Amazon API.

As long as the products have been imported, either by running the Import tool or thanks to Auto-Amazon running automatically, this separate automation will run to convert SiteStripe images into Amazon API.

You can check for currently running automations from inside the Lasso dashboard anytime:

If you notice that some SiteStripe images have not been converted yet (by checking the code), try waiting at least 48 hours and then reach out to support.

How to Import Amazon Products to Lasso Using Import Tool

Note: We recommend setting up Auto-Amazon instead for best results.

The manual import tool by itself does not update SiteStripe code to the Amazon API, you'll need to wait up to 48-72 hours for the migrating automation to run.

When logged into your WordPress backend with Lasso installed, navigate to the Import screen:

On the Import screen, you can select from the All Plugins dropdown to change to showing SiteStripe options for importing. You may already see some SiteStripe images detected on the list!

Now you have a few options:

  1. Click on any Amazon link from the list to check what you're importing

  2. Import (migrate) an Amazon link one at a time by clicking on the Import button from its row, or

  3. Import (migrate) all SiteStripe Amazon products by pressing the Bulk Import button

Most likely you'll just need to use the Bulk Import. A modal will pop up to ask you to confirm and begin the bulk import.

Once it's complete, your SiteStripe links should be highlighted with a checkmark to confirm they were successfully migrated:

I don't see any SiteStripe images to import/migrate in the Import tool, what do I do?

If you do not see any SiteStripe products/images to import inside the 'Import' tool in Lasso, this may likely be because the SiteStripe images were already imported automatically thanks to Auto-Amazon.

With most Lasso sites having Auto-Amazon features enabled, Lasso will scan your site consistently to find any Amazon links that are not yet inside Lasso and import them.

They will be automatically imported/copied to your Lasso products list as per the specifications.
