Spiral Review is the heart of Get More Math so students should earn at least half their points in Spiral Review each day!

GMM Best Practices for Student Success

  1. Create small assignments with three or fewer skills at three points per skill.

  2. Model input before students begin practicing new skills.

  3. Ensure students earn at least half their points from Spiral Review.

Designing assignments for student success

Assignments for student success have:

  • Three or fewer new skills related to today's new instruction

  • Three points per skill

  • At least 8 Spiral Review points

  • More than three skills included

  • Points per skill is larger or smaller than three points

Preparing students for success

  • Model solving problems and inputing answers before clicking ASSIGN on an assignment

  • Save time and frustration

    • Use PREVIEW to present a student view of an assignment

    • Use the full screen button to project unlimited examples of skills

Set expectations for success by ensuring at least half the points earned are from Spiral Review.

  • Each assignment should include at least 8 Spiral Review points.

  • Check the Points Distribution circle graph to ensure the green portion is larger than the purple portion.

  • If students are not earning enough points in Spiral Review, consider using Spiral Review as the warm-up each day and be sure that each assignment includes at least the default of 8 Spiral Review points.
