Using the daily goal and Points History to take grades, even for absent students

Updated over 3 months ago

There are two quick ways to take grades from GMM.

Using Assignment reports

  1. Choose CLASSES

  2. Choose a class from the left column

  3. Choose Assignments from the middle gray column

  4. Click on the name of an assignment

Teachers can view which students have completed the assignment and which students have not. Most teachers use 100% for the students completing the assignment and a smaller percentage for a student that only partially completes the assignment.

If a student completed the assignment, the student has met the teacher's expectation.

In viewing the assignment report, teachers may also choose to use Errors Fixed for students with accommodations. Perhaps a student did not complete the entire assignment, but the student fixed several errors. The teacher may choose to give some partial credit for the assignment.

Using Points History

Using Points History with daily goals, teachers can view grades and check back on grades for absent students in an efficient manner as well.

Daily goals are set by the teacher and should included the new targeted skill points and at least 8 Spiral Review points.

When students meet the daily goal, they have earned the expected number of points for the day.

To quickly take a grade:

  1. Navigate to Points History.

  2. View which students met the daily goal and assign grades accordingly.

For example, if the daily goal was 12 points and the student earned 12 or more points, the student made 100%. If the student earned 10 of the 12 points, the student earned 83%.

What about absent students?

When students are absent, they check their drop-down menu or Work History for incomplete assignments or they check their calendars to view the number of points needed to make up the missing work.

Students have the skills from the absence in Spiral Review and will solve some problems from the skills.

From the teacher view, if a student was absent, the student will likely show as Untried for the proficiency on the new skill.

After the student works in Spiral Review to earn the missing points, the student should level up to initial understanding (yellow) on the skills from the missing days.

The teacher could check the Assignment report or Points History to see the student makes up the missing assignment or points.
