How to configure different deal types

Updated over 4 months ago

Deals are the way you pick the kind of discount you want to offer, and which products should be eligible for it. You can add multiple deals to a promotion if you would like to combine multiple offers under a single promotion card in your store.

Selecting Products for a Deal

All deals allow you to select which products they apply to. The selection options are the same for all deals. You can choose:

  • Specific products

  • Specific Categories

  • All products in the store

If you have enabled the Vendor Specific setting, then selections will be limited to products from those vendors.

Adding a Deal to a Promotion

To get started, click the blue "Add New Deal" button and choose a deal.

Deal Type - Flat Discount

The simplest deal type. Applies a discount to the price of the chosen items. Discount options are:

  • Dollar amount discount - eg $3 off a $10 item = $7 discounted price

  • Percentage discount - eg 10% off a $10 item = $9 discounted price

  • New price per item - All items will have this new price, regardless of differences in their normal price

  • Free (Displayed as $0.01)

Deal Type - Buy X, Get Y

Use a buy X get Y deal when you want a promotion that allows a customer to buy a set dollar value or number of items at full price and have them get something else at a discount or free. (E.g. buy 2 prerolls and get 1g flower free)

If you want to run a discount like "Spend $100 on Grass Fire prerolls and get 10% off", where the discount should be applied to the same items that are part of the requirement, use the Minimum Spend deal type.

Customer Buys

This section determines what the customer needs to do to unlock the promotion. You have 3 options:

  • No Condition

  • Minimum quantity of items

  • Minimum purchase amount in dollars

Next you can select which products will count towards this requirement. You can choose:

  • Specific products

  • Specific Categories

  • All products in the store

You can choose multiple products or categories. Customers will be able to mix and match from any included items to meet the dollar value or quantity threshold you set for this deal.

If you selected the wrong master or product you can remove it by re-opening the selection interface and making a new selection. This will override your existing choices.

For weight based items like flower, choose the package size you would like to be eligible for the deal (eg. 1g or 3.5g,)

Customer Gets

This section determines the discount customers can receive after meeting the requirement. You can choose the same products as the customer buys section, or an entirely different one. (Eg. Buy a 1/8 oz, get a free preroll)

Select the quantity of items that should receive the discount, then configure the discount. Discount options are:

  • Dollar amount discount - eg $3 off a $10 item = $7 discounted price

  • Percentage discount - eg 10% off a $10 item = $9 discounted price

  • New price per item - All "Get Y" items will have this new price, regardless of differences in their normal price

  • Free (Displayed as $0.01)

Deal Type - Bundles

Use a bundle deal for specials like "5 prerolls for $20". Bundles can be based on only a single product, or include different items.

Select a quantity and then the cost of the bundle. Note that this is the total cost of the entire bundle. For example $25 for 5 prerolls, or $5 per preroll.

Tiered Bundles

To create tiered bundles with a larger discount for larger quantities (eg. "5 prerolls for $20, 10 prerolls for $30"), simply add multiple bundle deals with the same product sets inside of the same promotion.

Deal Type - Points Multiplier

The points multiplier deal type will increase the amount of points earned for any transactions that occur while its active. For example, if a customer would normally have earned 100 points for a transaction and you add a 1.5 multiplier, then they will earn 150 points. This is the promo you would use if you wanted to do a double point day.

Deal Type - Featured Products

The featured products deal should be used when you want to highlight products without modifying their pricing. This might be because you have set the price directly in the point of sale for tax reasons, or you have an every day low price on a high volume item.

Deal Type - Minimum Spend

Use the minimum spend deal to create a discount like "Spend $100 on Grass Fire prerolls and get 10% off". You can choose how the discount should be applied once the customer meets the requirements.

  • As many items in the cart as possible. The discount will be applied to all items in the customer's cart that qualify for the deal. In the example above, if a customer bought 15 prerolls at $10 each ($150 total), they would receive a discount of $15 (10% of $150)

  • Just enough items to meet the minimum spend. The discount will not be applied to items that exceed the requirement, unless there is enough to meet the requirement an additional time. In the example above, if a customer bought 15 prerolls at $10 each ($150 total), they would receive a discount of $10 (10% of $100 for 10 prerolls). If that customer bought 20 prerolls ($200 full price), they would unlock a second discount.
