The Guru app in Slack allows users to create, respond with, or search for Guru Cards without leaving their workflow.

Here are the 3 ways you can search Guru in Slack:

1. Search the Guru app in Slack

  1. In your DM with @Guru in Slack, type your search terms and press enter.

  2. Click Post to this Channel to post the Card to your DM or click View Card to view content within the Card before posting.

  3. If the results don't have the content you're searching for, click Next ⏩.

  4. If you want to modify your search, click Edit Search/Filters and you will be able to edit keywords and filter by Tag or Collection.

2. Search with the Slash Command:

  1. Type /guru followed by your search term in any Slack channel or DM.
    For example, /guru dog policy

  2. Click Post to this Channel to post the Card, or click View Card to view content within the Card before posting.

  3. If the results don't have the content you're searching for, click Next ⏩.

  4. If you want to modify your search, click Edit Search/Filters and you will be able to edit keywords and filter by Guru tag or Collection.

3. @mention Guru:

  1. @mention guru in a Slack channel and then type your search term.

  2. The search results will appear in a thread beneath your @mention.


✍️ Note
When using the @mention Guru search method, your search phrase and search results are publicly visible (unlike the other methods)


Posting a Card

After using any of the above methods you have the option to post the relevant Card in the channel or DM the search happened in. Learn more about who can view posted Cards in Guru.

Posting a Guru search result does not work in threads. If you are looking to share a Guru Card in a thread, use the Answer with a Card feature from the ellipses menu.
