Getting started

Written by Irek Khasianov

What Giftform does

Giftform turns a Shopify product selection into a shareable gift link. You pick the products, share one link, and the person who opens it chooses what they want and enters their shipping address.

Giftform creates the order in your Shopify store with the products and shipping discounted to zero, so the recipient is never charged and you never invoice anyone.

Nothing is charged to you either — the order lands in Shopify at a $0 total, ready to fulfil.

Where things live in the app

The Giftform navigation has four entries: Home, Forms, Orders, and Settings.

  • Home — plan usage, recent forms and orders, and the help section.

  • Forms — every gift form; Create form is the primary button.

  • Orders — every submission, including ones where the recipient never finished checkout.

  • Settings — subscription, form branding, order notifications.

The guided setup

New stores land in a three-step wizard with the steps Choose your products, Who can order?, and Try it yourself. Skip setup leaves the wizard at any time.

Step 2 reserves a test handle

Step 2 pre-fills the first handle with TEST and locks it. That handle exists so you can place your own order. The step spells it out: TEST is reserved for your own demo order — you'll use it on the next step to place a $0 test order.

Step 3 waits for your test order

Step 3 gives you the form link and waits. Submit your form using the handle TEST, finish the Shopify checkout, and the step confirms with Test order received and Your test order came through — everything's working. You can then remove the test order, which confirms with Test order removed.

What happens to the TEST handle

When you finish or skip, Giftform removes the TEST handle from the form. If TEST was the only handle on the form, it is kept and you get a warning: Your form only allows the TEST handle right now — add an influencer handle before you share the link. Removing it would leave an empty handle list, and a form with an empty handle list is open to anyone.

Creating a form by hand

Go to Forms and choose Create form. Three things are required before you can save:

  • Name — helper text Only visible inside the app.

  • At least one product.

  • Form typeInfluencer or Company.

Everything else has a working default. For the full option reference, see Configuring a form and its options.

Sharing the link

Open a saved form and find the Form link section. The link looks like https://l.giftform.app/f/<form-id>/. Copy to clipboard copies it, and the helper text reads Share this link to collect gift orders.

The form ID is generated for you and cannot be changed. Anyone with the link can open the form — the handle list, not the link, controls who can actually order.

Branding the form

Go to Settings and find Form branding (Customize how your gift form pages look to recipients).

  • LogoDisplayed at the top of your gift form pages. The uploader accepts PNG, JPG, or WebP.

  • Page colorsBrand color is the page background, default #ffffff; Text color defaults to #0a0a0a.

  • Accent colorsPrimary button, Cart bar, and Accent, with the helper text Optional — leave unset to automatically derive these from your page colors above. Each one has a Use automatic color reset.

  • Preview — shows the result before you save.

Getting an email when an order comes in

Go to Settings and find Order notifications (Get an email when someone places an order through your gift forms). Fill in Notification email; its helper text is Leave blank to turn off order notifications.

Notifications are off until you fill this in. The email arrives when a recipient finishes checkout, not when they open the form.

Plan limits

Settings then Subscription shows either Free plan or Unlimited plan, plus your orders used. The free plan accepts 5 orders.

That count is completed orders only: a submission where the recipient opened the checkout but never finished it does not use up your allowance. Once the cap is reached, recipients who submit a form see Order limit reached. Please contact the sender. Upgrading to Unlimited removes the cap.

Getting help

Use the chat bubble inside the app. From Home, Book a call opens https://cal.com/storista/gift-form-demo.
