The Occupational Accident Policy through GigSafe offers comprehensive coverage for independent contractors, providing protection in the event of occupational accidents, injuries, or even accidental death. To ensure that the correct person receives the policy's benefits, it's important to designate a beneficiary.
What is a Beneficiary?
A beneficiary is the individual you choose to receive the benefits from your insurance policy if something unfortunate happens to you. This could include accidental death, dismemberment, medical expenses, or temporary/continuous total disability.
Guide:
While onboarding, you may encounter the following step:
Select a Beneficiary:
Tap on the "Discover additional details about your potential beneficiary" purple section to learn more about who can be chosen as a beneficiary.
You cannot designate yourself as your beneficiary. This ensures that the benefits go to someone else in the event of an accident.
Enter Beneficiary Details:
First Name: Enter the first name of the person you want to designate as your beneficiary.
Last Name: Enter their last name.
Relation to You: Select the correct relationship (e.g., spouse, child, parent, etc.) from the dropdown menu.
Confirm Your Selection:
Double-check the information you have entered for accuracy. It is important to ensure that the name and relationship are correct to avoid any issues in the future.
Submit:
Once all the details are entered and confirmed, submit the form. The information will be stored in the system and tied to your Occupational Accident Policy.
Important Notes:
You are not allowed to use your own name as your beneficiary. The platform will remind you of this during the process.
You can change your beneficiary details later if necessary, but it's crucial to keep this information updated in case of significant life events (e.g., marriage, divorce, or changes in family structure).
