Connecting the Claude MCP to Giig
Get Claude talking to your Giig data, so you can ask it things instead of clicking round the CRM to find them.
Hey! Luke here, founder of Giig đ
If you've not heard of MCP yet, here's the short version: it's what lets an AI tool like Claude actually connect to your Giig account and do stuff in it (pull up candidates, check your pipeline, log notes) instead of just chatting in a vacuum. Set it up once and you've basically got an assistant sat inside your CRM.
đĄ Two people are involved in this. An account manager needs to switch MCP access on for the user first. Then that user connects their own Claude account to Giig. Both steps are below.
This is where you'll find everything you need to get connected:
Allowing MCP access in Giig (the admin bit)
Getting your MCP details
Connecting Giig in Claude
Checking it's actually working
Allowing MCP access in Giig
Before anyone can connect Claude to Giig, an account manager needs to switch access on for that user. If that's not you, get whoever manages your Giig account to run through this bit first.
Head to Settings, top right of the taskbar on the dashboard
Head to the Team option
Find the user in the team list, click Actions, and select Enable MCP Access
đĄ Pro tip: while you're in there, scroll down on the same page to the MCP
permissions panel. This is where you, as account manager, control exactly what each role can do through Claude: Read/Write, Read Only, or No access, broken down by Candidates, Contacts, Jobs, Companies, Applicants, Notes, Uploaded Files and Tasks, plus a separate toggle for whether that role can send emails on your behalf. Set it per role (Manager vs User), hit Save, and you're done.
Getting your MCP details
Right, over to the user who actually wants to connect.
Head back to Settings and click on MCP
You'll land on a screen with your MCP URL, Client ID, and Client Secret. Grab your Client ID and copy your Client Secret, you'll need both in a minute.
â ď¸ Your Client Secret is only shown once, right when it's generated. If you didn't copy it at the time (or you've lost it), click the red Revoke & Generate New MCP Keys button to issue a fresh one.
Connecting Giig in Claude
Now hop over to your Claude account.
Click the menu in the bottom left, then click Settings at the top of that menu
In Settings, select Connectors
Click Add, then select Add custom connector
Name it Giig, and for the URL enter:
https://giigapi.com/mcp
Then click Continue.
You'll land on a page showing "You are not connected to Giig yet." Click Connect
This takes you to the final screen. Pop in the Client ID and Client Secret you copied earlier, then click Connect
Check it's actually working
Give Claude a quick test to make sure it's talking to your Giig account properly. Try something like:
"Who was the last candidate I added to Giig?"
If it comes back with the right answer, you're good to go. Start asking it about your pipeline, your candidates, whatever you'd normally go digging for in Giig.
Need a hand?
If something's not connecting, or the permissions aren't behaving how you'd expect, tell me. I'm not a faceless support team, I'm the guy who built this thing. Email me: support@giighire.com
đĄ One last pro tip: only enable MCP access for people who actually need it, and keep the permissions as tight as makes sense for their role. Claude's only as safe in your CRM as the access you've given it.
