Connecting your email

Linking your email account so you can send and log outreach from Giig

Written by Luke Pitkin

Connect your inbox once and every email to a candidate or client lands on their record. No more digging through Outlook to remember what you promised someone.

Hey! Luke here, founder of Giig šŸ‘‹

Giig works best when it can actually see your emails. Connect your account and you can email candidates and clients straight from their record, send bulk emails, and keep a proper history of who said what. It takes about two minutes, and most of that is you remembering your password.

Finding your email settings

  1. Click the settings (gear) icon, top right of the platform

  2. Select Email Settings

Connecting your email account

Under Let's Connect Your Email you'll see three options. Pick the one that matches where your email lives:

  1. 365/Exchange, for @hotmail, @outlook, @live or any work email that runs on Microsoft 365

  2. Gmail, for @gmail, @googlemail or any work email on Google Workspace

  3. IMAP, for everything else, like a custom domain email that isn't on Google or Microsoft

Click your option and follow the prompts. For 365 and Gmail you'll sign in to your Microsoft or Google account and give Giig permission to send and read your email. For IMAP you'll need your email server details, which your email provider or IT person can give you.

Once you're connected, a red Disconnect Email button appears under the three options. That's how you know it worked.

Setting up your email signature

Scroll down to Default Email Structure. Your signature gets added automatically to every email you send from Giig, so it's worth two minutes:

  1. Choose an Email Signature Type: None, or one of the three ready-made layouts (Option 1, Option 2 or Option 3), or Custom

  2. Compare the Current Signature with the Updated Signature preview to see the difference

  3. Add a Disclaimer if your agency uses one

  4. Set your Unsubscribe Link to Off, On or Bulk Email Only, and fill in the Unsubscribe Text

  5. Hit Update Signature

Want an exact copy of the signature you already use?

Go for Custom. Pasting your signature in as HTML is the best way to get an exact replica, logo, links, colours and all. It can be a bit fiddly (one wrong bracket and it turns into gibberish), but don't let that put you off, the team are happy to help.

If you'd like a hand building an HTML version of your current signature, drop us a line at support@giighire.com.

šŸ’” Pro tip: the ready-made signatures pull in details from your profile. If you see blanks or odd gaps in the preview, fill in your Personal Settings first and come back.

šŸ’” Pro tip: Bulk Email Only is a nice middle ground for the unsubscribe link. Your one-to-one emails stay personal, and your mailshots stay on the right side of the rules.

Switching or disconnecting your email

New email address, or moving from Gmail to Outlook? Easy:

  1. Click Disconnect Email

  2. Read the warning (once disconnected, you can't read or send emails to your contacts and candidates from Giig)

  3. Click Disconnect, then connect your new account using the steps above
