Eyedropper Tool

Copy a geometry's properties onto another one

Written by Holly Conrad Smith

Keeping usages and styling consistent across dozens of parcels or units gets tedious fast if you re-enter every property by hand. Use the Eyedropper tool (icon looks like a pipette) to copy one geometry's properties onto another instead.

  1. Select the geometry or geometries you want to restyle.

  2. Click the Eyedropper tool in the drawing toolbar, or press Y.

  3. Click the geometry whose properties you want to copy.

Giraffe immediately applies the source's properties to your selection: usage, color, height, and any other custom values. It only keeps a few things about your original geometry unchanged, like its ID and layer.

If nothing is selected when you click a geometry with the Eyedropper, Giraffe uses its style as the starting point for the next shape you draw instead.

Eyedropper is also available from the ••• menu's Clipboard submenu. See Edit and Advanced Tools.
