Workspace Settings

Customize your workspace's name, logo, color, Home screen, and default apps

Written by Holly Conrad Smith

Workspace settings put your company's name, logo, and color on every surface your team shares. When an analyst opens Home to start a feasibility study, or a client gets an invite to review a site, they see your brand. Admins also set the Home screen welcome message and the app that opens when someone opens a project.

Workspace settings are for workspace Admins on the Teams and Enterprise tiers. Some settings are Enterprise only, and each section below says which. See Tiers.

Workspace settings save automatically. The settings page has no Save button.

Open Workspace Settings

  1. On the Home screen, click Settings under Admin in the left sidebar.

OR

  1. Click the workspace logo in the top left of the top bar to open the main menu.

  2. Under Manage Workspace, choose Workspace Settings.

Appearance

Change the workspace name

The Name field sets your workspace's name. The name shows as the heading on the Home screen and in the subject line of invitation emails. Workspace names are available on the Teams and Enterprise tiers.

  1. Click into the Name field and type the new name.

  2. Press Enter or click outside the field to save. Press Esc to cancel.

🚨 Warning: changing the workspace name changes it for every member of the workspace.

Each workspace name is unique across Giraffe. If another workspace already uses the name, the change does not save and Giraffe shows an error.

Add a workspace logo

The workspace logo appears in the top left of the top bar, above the workspace name on the Home screen, and in invitation and share emails. Workspace logos are an Enterprise feature.

  1. Next to Logo, click Choose file. If a logo is already set, the button reads Change file.

  2. In the Image selection window, choose the File tab to upload an image, or the Link tab to use an image URL.

To upload a logo file:

  1. On the File tab, click Upload.

  2. Choose your image. Under Select an image size, pick Small (logo or map marker).

  3. Give the image a name in New file name.

  4. Turn on Public URL. <- Important! If the file is not public, no one else in your workspace will see it.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Check that your image shows under File Preview, then click Confirm.

Anyone with a file's public URL can download that file. Only upload images you are happy to share.

To use a logo from a link:

  1. On the Link tab, paste a public image URL into the box under Paste external link.

  2. Click Confirm.

Set the workspace color

The Workspace Color setting puts your brand color on the workspace's shared surfaces. Workspace Color is an Enterprise feature. It colors:

  • the left sidebar on the Home and admin screens

  • the top bar, when Use theme to color top bar is turned off

  • project clusters in the portfolio layer on the map

  • the header of invitation and share emails

Text on these surfaces switches between light and dark automatically, so it stays readable on your color.

To set the workspace color, paste a hex code, like #1F4E79, into the box next to the color swatch. Press Enter or click outside the box to save.

OR

Click the color swatch to open the Select a color picker. Choose a color, then click the check mark to close the picker and save.

Workspace Color does not change buttons, links, or highlights inside projects. Those keep Giraffe's standard accent color.

Color the top bar

The Use theme to color top bar checkbox controls the top bar's color. The checkbox is on by default, so the top bar matches Giraffe's theme. Uncheck it to color the top bar with your Workspace Color. The change saves right away. This setting is an Enterprise feature.

Home screen

Add a welcome message to Home

The Home Page box adds your own HTML under the workspace name on the Home screen. Use it to welcome new team members, link to your deal pipeline or site checklist, or embed a walkthrough video. Everyone who opens the workspace's Home screen sees it. The Home Page message is an Enterprise feature.

  1. Click into the Home Page box.

  2. Type or paste your HTML.

  3. Click outside the box to save.

  4. Open the Home screen to check how it looks.

Here is an example:

<h2>Welcome to Acme Development</h2><p>Start every new site with our <a href="https://example.com/checklist">site checklist</a>.</p>

HTML

Home

The Home Page box supports:

  • text and formatting, like headings, paragraphs, lists, bold, and images

  • links, which show in Giraffe's accent color

  • embedded video through an <iframe>, like a YouTube or Loom embed

Giraffe removes scripts, <style> tags, inline style attributes, forms, and buttons from the Home Page HTML. Embedded videos run in a sandbox.

Choose what Home shows first

The Home List dropdown sets whether the Home screen opens on the workspace's Projects or its Spaces. Projects is the default. The change saves right away. Home List is an Enterprise feature.
