A drawing set you're about to issue is worth protecting. Paper saves your sheet layout to your Giraffe project as you work, and you can keep a backup file of it on your computer too.
Save your Changes
Click Save in the top bar to flush your sheet layout to the Giraffe cloud right away. The button reads Saving… while it's in progress and Saved ✓ once it's done.
Paper also saves in the background: shortly after you stop editing, roughly once a minute while you work, when you switch away from the tab, and on a best-effort basis when you close it. Clicking Save forces an immediate save and surfaces any error right away instead of waiting for the next automatic save.
A red dot on the Save button means you have unsaved changes. Hover over the button to see the save status and how long ago Paper last saved to the cloud.
Back up and restore your layout as a file
Download your sheet layout as a local file, separate from the automatic save to your Giraffe project.
Open Settings and go to Save & restore.
Click Download state (JSON) to save your current layout to a file on your computer.
To load that file back in, open Settings → Save & restore and click Upload state (JSON)…, then pick the file.
🚨 Warning: uploading a state file replaces your current layout. Save or export anything you want to keep first.
