Turn context layers on and off to see exactly what affects a site. Hide everything except a zoning overlay to check a setback, or fade a parcel layer so your massing reads clearly on top.
Show or hide a layer
Click the eye on a layer row in the Layer Palette to show or hide it. A hidden layer turns grey in the list and disappears from the map.
Click the eye on a group to show or hide every layer inside it.
You can't hide the active drawing layer, or a group that holds it. Set a different layer as active first.
Show only one layer
Hold Option/Alt and click a layer's eye. That layer stays on and every other layer turns off. Option/Alt-click the same eye again to turn the other layers back on.
OR
Right-click the layer and choose Hide others. On a drawing layer, choose Hide other drawing layers to hide only drawing layers and keep your data layers on.
Both methods work on a selection too. Select several layers, then Option/Alt-click one of their eyes to show only those layers.
Show all layers
Right-click empty space in the Layer Palette, below the last layer, and choose Show all. Every hidden layer turns back on.
Hide several layers at once
Shift-click or Cmd/Ctrl-click to select the layers in the Layer Palette. Click the eye on any selected row. Every selected layer turns off together. Right-click and choose Hide or Show to do the same thing from the menu.
Adjust opacity
Each layer row has an opacity box. Type a number from 1 to 100, use the +/- buttons, or click and drag inside the box to scrub. Lower numbers make the layer more transparent. With several layers selected, the change applies to all of them.
If a layer disappears or won't show, troubleshoot data layer issues.
Save layer visibility for everyone
Visibility and opacity changes are not saved automatically. Each person can turn layers on and off while they work without changing what other editors see. Click Save Visibility (the floppy disk in the Layer Palette header) to make the current state the project default. The project opens this way the next time anyone loads it.
