Two-letter shortcuts

Give every drawing and editing tool its own shortcut, so you can model a site without reaching for the toolbar. Turn on two-letter shortcuts in Edit > Preferences…, under Shortcuts. Choose Two-letter shortcuts, or Two-letter shortcuts (left hand) to use only the left side of the keyboard.

To use a two-letter shortcut, press the first letter, let go, then press the second letter within 1.5 seconds. For example, press P then T to draw a point. Press Esc after the first letter to cancel.

Two-letter shortcuts don't work while you're typing in a text box or entering a number.

Single-key shortcuts in two-letter mode

Single-key shortcuts keep working in two-letter mode, except for a letter that starts a two-letter shortcut. Shortcuts that use Shift, Cmd/Ctrl, or Option/Alt work the same in every mode.

  • In Two-letter shortcuts mode, P, F, L, X, O, B, and M start two-letter shortcuts and don't work on their own.

  • In Two-letter shortcuts (left hand) mode, B and X start two-letter shortcuts and don't work on their own.

Stack order and levels in two-letter mode

In both two-letter modes, stack order and levels move to different keys so they don't clash with two-letter shortcuts.

  • Press Page Up or Page Down to change the stack order of the selected geometries.

  • Press ] to add a level to the selected geometries, or [ to remove one.

Two-letter shortcut list

Each two-letter shortcut opens the same tool or command as its toolbar button or Command Line entry.
