Dig in deep and do some more advanced drawing commands.
Boolean
In 3D modeling, a boolean is a set of operations that merge, subtract, or combine objects to create complex shapes from simpler primitives.
Boolean
The Boolean tool allows you to select which parts of overlapping geometries to keep or remove. It is basically Union, Intersection, and Difference in one command.
Select the polygons
Select Boolean from More Tools/Command Line.
Click on the intersecting areas you want to keep. They turn Green.
Click again to remove them from the set. They turn red.
Click proceed to keep the changes.
Union
Create a new polygon that represents the merged geometry of 2 or more polygons.
Select the polygons
Select Union from More Tools/Command Line.
Intersection
Create a new polygon from the intersection of 2 or more polygons.
Select the polygons
Select Intersection from More Tools/Command Line.
Difference
Cut out an area in a shape based on an overlapping shape.
Select the shape you want to cut from
hold shift
select the shape you want to cut with
Select Difference from More Tools/Command Line.
Use Difference to make holes in other geometries.
Follow difference instructions above
Apply usages as usual
Edit the hole control points as you normally would
Split
Cut a polygon into two pieces.
Select the polygon
Use x or select Split from More Tools/Command Line.
Draw a line through the polygon
Double click to end the command
Trim
Use a line to cut away a piece of geometry
Draw a line intersecting a geometry.
Select the line.
Select Trim from More Tools/Command Line.
Click on the portion of the geometry you want to remove.
Simplify
Geometry may have too many points, causing slower performance. Use Simplify to adjust geometry to a tolerance!
Select geometry
Select simplify from More Tools/Command Line.
Type in a tolerance (in meters)
Loft (Make Roof)
Create a simple pitched roof.
Select geometry (note, rectilinear shapes work best)
Select Loft from More Tools or "Make Roof" from Command Line.
Adjust the pitch height in properties
Adjust the ridge location on the canvas
Draw Ramp (Beta)
Create a simple ramp.
Open Command Line
Search "ramp" and select "Draw Ramp"
Click to draw a rectangle.
Adjust the height in the properties palette.
Open/Close
Turn polygons into lines, and vice versa
Open
Open a polygon and turn it into a polyline.
Select geometry
Select Open from More Tools/Command Line.
Close
Turn a self-intersecting polyline into a polygon
Select geometry
Select Close from More Tools/Command Line.
