Text-to-Donate is our free fundraising feature powered by Twilio. It allows donors to text a code to a number (44321 for US donors, or 1-910-748-5406 for international) which will automatically send them a text with a link to your fundraising page. This makes it so that donors don't have to remember or type a webpage link, they can instead text a code to a number that will send them the link for you.
You can also change which Campaign Page the code is associated with at any time, so donors don't have to stay up to donate with new links.
Create a Text-To-Donate Code
Nonprofit admins can make text-to-donate codes through the "Text-To-Donate" link in the navigation bar. Codes can be letters and numbers and are not case sensitive. But they must be at least 3 characters long and cannot have any spaces.
Once you have made a code it will automatically link itself to your Core Profile so that it works immediately. Donors residing in the United States only need to text the code to the short number 44321. For international donors, they will need to text the code to the number 1-910-748-5406. Both numbers will send the donor a link to your Give Lively page for them to make their donation.
If you would like to change which page the code sends donors to, you can do so by clicking on your Campaign Page in the dashboard and on the opening page scroll down to the "Link a Text-To-Donate Code" button. Screenshot below for a visual.
Text-To-Donate codes can only be paired with one page at a time, but you can make multiple codes to go on other pages.

Does it cost donors anything to use the Text-to-Donate short code?
Donors are subject to their typical text/SMS rates according to their phone plan. Accordingly, in order to comply with U.S. carrier regulations, any display of the text code 44321 must include the following disclosure: "Msg&data rates may apply. 4 msg/req. T&C's and Privacy: givelively.org/terms. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt-out."
How Do These Codes Work With International Donors?
We work with Twilio, a cloud communication platform, to power our Text-To-Donate technology.
Our U.S. short code can only be used with U.S. phone numbers on U.S. carrier networks that have approved that short code. Note that if a donor on a supported U.S. carrier is outside of the country or located in a U.S. territory like Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands, Twilio does not guarantee text message delivery.
Text-to-Donate is also possible through non-U.S. phones in many countries, but the short code can’t be used. Instead, donors must proceed using a "long code,” which is a full 10-digit U.S. telephone number: 917-999-0700. (When texting from outside the U.S., this number must be preceded by +1.)
