Anyone that has donated through Give Lively has had an account created for them automatically to house their donation records and download their receipts. That same account is what you want to log into if you need to cancel or pause a recurring donation. To do so, follow these steps.
If you don't remember your password, you can reset it from this log in screen or choose to log in without a password by having a code sent to your email to log in with.
Select ‘Recurring Payments’ in the left-hand navigation. This will pull up a full list of recurring donations, listed according to date of creation (newest at the top).
Click on the ‘Manage’ button of the subscription you want to pause or cancel.
Select ‘Cancel Recurrence’ to cancel the recurring donation. A popup prompt will ask for confirmation of the desire to cancel the recurring donation.
If instead you'd like to pause the donation to reactivate it at a later time, click 'Pause'. At this time you can only pause the donation indefinitely with no defined date. You can still unpause it at any time.
Click ‘OK’ to proceed, keeping in mind that the request may take a few minutes to process.
In addition to these steps, the nonprofit you donated to also has the ability to cancel your recurring donation if you would prefer they do it themselves. You must reach out directly to the nonprofit to make the change and not us at Give Lively. They can cancel your recurring donation through their Stripe account.
A Note On Pausing Recurring Donations
Pausing and unpausing a subscription does not affect the date the subscription was made. When you unpause a recurring donation you will be charged only when it’s the same date as when the subscription was first made.
Here’s an example.
You have a recurring donation on the 10th of every month. It is currently March 13th, which means you paid 3 days ago. You have decided you do not want to pay the upcoming charge on April 10th. You can pause your subscription now to make sure you’re not charged. Fast forward some time, it is now June 21st and you want to restart your paused subscription. Unpausing it that day will not result in a charge because the original subscription was started on the 10th. So unpausing today on June 21st will mean your next charge happens July 10th.
