How does DAFpay work?

DAFpay is the world's first 3-click Donor Advised Fund (DAF) payment option that can be easily embedded anywhere a donor may be inspired to give.

DAFpay Components

DAFpay comes in many different versions (sometimes referred to as "components"). Learn more about each and it's use case below.

There are two ways to enable DAFpay components on your donation form(s) - the first is via one of Chariot's fundraising platform integration partners. See what actions you can take if your fundraising platform is not yet integrated.

If you'd like to get started with DAFpay without a fundraising platform integration, access to DAFpay components is also available via a direct subscription plan with Chariot. Plans start at $450/month and include 0% processing fees, additional support, and marketing toolkits. Note that all plans are billed annually.

Once you've activated your Chariot subscription, log in to your Chariot account to find the easy copy and paste code for each of these DAFpay components, which you can then add to your website. Each code snippet is pre-rendered and 100% unique to your specific nonprofit.

Express Button

A faster DAF checkout experience that can be added anywhere on your organization's website - just copy the HTML snippet from your dashboard.

When a donor clicks on the DAFpay button, it launches the DAFpay modal (without any redirect to a new page or tab) and the donor will have a seamless, 3-click DAF donation experience directly on your website.

When donors click the button, all they have to do is select their DAF, confirm their donation, and fill out some brief contact information. See example below.

The DAFpay button can be added as a standalone button anywhere on your website. It is often most effective on a main donation form next to other payment options (e.g., PayPal, ApplePay, etc.) to make it clear to donors that they can use their DAF just like they would a credit card.

Embeddable Tile

With its user-friendly design and optimized user experience, DAFpay's Embeddable Tile is proven to boost conversion rates. The Embeddable Tile includes educational elements to inform your donors about Chariot and the impact of their contributions.

You can even customize the Tile to match your organization's brand theme!

The DAFpay Tile is most frequently used on a “Ways to Give” page. The Tile offers pre-populated context on DAF giving & how Chariot works within an embeddable frame that sits seamlessly in your website. You can also easily customize the color of the Tile and add your logo right within the Tile tab of your dashboard.

Since DAF giving on a nonprofit’s website is a new experience to many donors today, the Tile’s standardized explanation of DAF giving through Chariot & optimized user interface result in:

  • Nonprofit staff spending less time hand-holding DAF donors to ensure they use Chariot on the organization’s website

  • Donors spending less time to make their DAF gifts, resulting in higher conversion

Note: It’s also important to note that the Tile is typically deployed in conjunction with a DAFpay button on the core donation form, putting easy DAF giving in front of any and all potential DAF donors.

Weblink

If you don't have a DAF "Ways to Give" page, Chariot's got you covered.

The DAFpay Weblink & QR Code redirect your donors to a Chariot-hosted DAF donation page. These components are great for newsletters, social media posts, and live events.

The DAFpay Weblink is the easiest way to get started with Chariot. Simply use your unique Weblink URL to direct potential donors directly to your nonprofits unique DAF giving page, which is hosted by Chariot. Visit app.givechariot.com/donate to see examples of these pages.

The weblink is a great alternative to a DAF ways to give page and can be used in the same way in marketing - simply hyperlink the weblink in any email, newsletter or social media post to direct donors to a 3-click DAF donation experience.

QR Code

Whether included in a direct mail outreach or at a live event flyer, being able to link a donor to your dedicated DAF giving form is a huge asset in securing more DAF donations.

Like each of the DAFpay tools, the QR code is auto-rendered in your dashboard for easy use. If you want help creating social media or other graphics leveraging your QR code please don't hesitate to reach out!
