Providing secure payment processing for our clients is one of GiveGab Enterprise’s top priorities.

In alignment with the PCI Security Standards Council (SSC) strong recommendations to end support for both TLS v. 1.0 and 1.1, GiveGab Enterprise will no longer support Internet Explorer version 8 through version 10 because they utilize these older versions of TLS.  We will continue to support the latest version of Internet Explorer 11 and Microsoft EDGE.

GiveGab Enterprise previously indicated that we would no longer support these browsers to ensure alignment with Microsoft support.  We felt it important to stress and clarify that the critical reason for this change is driven by aligning with recommendations from the PCI SSC.

What is TLS and what is changing?
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol used to establish a secure communications channel between two systems.  It is used to authenticate one or both systems and protect the confidentiality and integrity of information that passes between systems.

GiveGab Enterprise is following the strong recommendations of PCI SSC to end support for both TLS v1.0 and v1.1.

  • The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) has declared that encryption method TLS 1.0 no longer meets minimum-security standards due to known vulnerabilities for which there are no fixes.

  • Although not all TLS v1.1 implementations are considered vulnerable, because of our commitment to keeping client’s and donor’s processing data secure, GiveGab Enterprise is following the strong recommendations of PCI SSC to end support for TLS v1.1 as well.

What preparation or action is required to minimize any potential impact?
Both those within your organization and your donors will need to update to Internet Explorer 11 or greater or use another browser such as Chrome, FireFox or Safari.  These changes should be completed by the end of 2017.  We will send a more detailed timeline this fall.

Please note that both your organization and your donors will encounter issues if they are using one of these older versions of Internet Explorer to access GiveGab Enterprise’s platform or Enterprise forms.  These updates apply to all products including Every Day Giving donation forms, Event Registration forms, Peer-to-Peer campaigns and Giving Day sites using Enterprise donation forms.

GiveGab Enterprise suggests that you begin notifying your internal users and donors of this upcoming change.  Because encryption protocols negotiate to the strongest allowable cipher, you can be prepared by removing TLS 1.0 and 1.1 well in advance of the deadline and minimize potential impact to your organization.
