If your organization utilizing a Litle/Vantiv payment gateway to process donations, it may be helpful to understand the gateway's decline codes so you can assist any donors having issues when attempting to give.

Typically, the result message will provide some insight as to why a donor's card was declined, like a CVV mismatch or Invalid Expiration Date.

To see the Decline Code associated with the result message, you will first need to go to the Donation Details page for that donor. Then scroll down to "Associated Transactions" and click on the transaction code:

That will bring you to the Transactions Details page. At the bottom of the Transaction Details section, there is a dropdown you can click for Gateway Information:

When you click on it, the details provided by the gateway are displayed. The decline code is listed next to "Response." Here the Response Code is 301, which matches Vantiv's decline code for "Invalid Account Number;" that is the same result message that was received at well:

If the result message is not clear, or you want additional information about the decline, you can follow the above steps to see the Response/Decline Code and match it to Litle/Vantiv's response code document.
