Can we get an email sent to us every time we get a donation?

While our team understands the desire to be notified each time your organization receives a gift through your forms, unfortunately, we do not offer that option today.

There are a few reasons why we do not offer it and why it is not recommended:

  1. Email clients are not CRMs, and would not make good databases to retain that information (https://davidmytton.blog/email-is-not-a-good-database/).

  2. This is often assumed to be a low volume of emails, but if fundraising is going well, the number of emails delivered could be overwhelming if they're sent to an actual individual's email account.

  3. If a feature like this were to be implemented, it would effectively double the volume of emails our platform sends out for each customer who enables it which would increase costs associated with running our platform.

In these cases where your organization would like to receive information about donations, we highly recommend using our reporting feature options like Delivery Schedules and Report Anywhere Links.

If your organization would like information about your gifts and there aren't any time-sensitive post-gift processes that need to occur, we recommend configuring a Delivery Schedule within your reports. With the Delivery Schedules, you can send out a daily report email that contains all gifts processed for the previous day. That limits the number of emails that would get sent to your staff and allows you view all gifts processed from the day before.

If your organization does have time-sensitive post-gift processes that must occur (ex. additional notifications from your organization for high dollar donations), we recommend using our Report Anywhere Links. With Report Anywhere Links, you can bookmark the link to a report containing today's gifts and access it at any point throughout the day. This prevents you from logging into the platform to review recent gifts that were processed and your email being flooded with notifications. Additionally, the link can be used by other members of your staff, if needed.
