One of the great benefits to using our Google Sheet Integration for your Donation Categories, is that it is a lot easier to make updates to your fund designation list and apply those changes in the platform.

Previously to make large-scale changes, you would have to export your current list from the platform, make the edits, then re-import the full list. That is a lot of back-and-forth effort to make adjustments.

However, with this integration we now have a refresh button within the Donation Categories section that allows our platform to fetch a fresh list from the Google Sheet you supplied!

Updating your Google Sheet

You can make various changes to your fund designation list within your Google Sheet:

  • Make fund designations active or inactive

  • Add new fund designations

  • Add a new Parent group and its Children

  • Update metadata fields for fund designations, etc

Here's the current fund designation list within the platform

To make a fund designation inactive, simply switch the Active? value from "True" to "False," and vice versa to make an inactive fund designation active

To add new fund designations, you'll need to fill out all of the columns within the Google Sheet.

Note: If you're not using Parent-Child categorization, then the only column that should be left blank is Parent Name

If you're using Parent-Child categorization and you need to add a new Parent group with its children, then you need to fill out all of the columns within the Google Sheet for both the new Parent and its Children.

Note: the Sort Index for the Parent needs to be in respect to the other Parents within the group; if you want the new Parent to populate within the list in a specific order, then you'll need to adjust the Sort Index for all of the Parents.

To update any metadata fields for your fund designations, you just need to make those changes within the correct column

You can make as many changes as necessary to your fund designation list, and those changes can very easily be applied to the platform.

Refreshing Donation Categories

After making changes to your fund designations list on your Google Sheet, you can apply those changes within the platform.

Within the Donation Categories section of the platform, there is a "Refresh" button

If you click on that button to fetch a fresh fund designation list from your Google Sheet, this menu will populate asking you to verify that you want to continue with the refresh. If you want to continue, click the "Reload" button

That will then populate the changes from your Google Sheet!

This process makes managing and updating your list of fund designations a lot simpler.
