How It Works
Navigate to Markus — Click “Markus AI” in the sidebar, or go to
/markusType your question — Use natural language. Markus understands trademark terminology but you don’t need to use it.
Watch Markus work — As Markus processes your request, you can see its current step and a summary of the sources used after it responds.
Review the response — Markus returns structured answers with links to trademark pages, owner profiles, TTAB proceedings, and other GleanMark features. Click any link to see the full detail.
Follow up — Ask follow-up questions in the same conversation. Markus keeps recent conversation context, though very long conversations may trim older messages.
Key Features
Conversation History
Completed conversations are saved automatically. Access past conversations from the sidebar panel in the chat view, where you can filter by title, star favorites, rename, and delete conversations. A dedicated conversation history page is also available for browsing and managing all past conversations.
Source Visibility
When Markus searches the database or runs an analysis, you can see what step it’s currently performing and a summary of the tools used after the response completes. Responses also include a Sources button showing the count of supporting sources cited in the answer — click it to view the underlying records.
Inline Charts
Markus can generate bar charts, line charts, pie charts, and composed visualizations directly in the conversation when presenting statistical or trend data.
Smart Links
Markus formats all trademark references as clickable links — serial numbers go to trademark detail pages, owner names link to owner profiles, TTAB proceeding numbers link to proceeding pages, and Nice class numbers link to class descriptions.
Workspace Awareness
Markus knows about your clients, portfolios, tracked owners, upcoming deadlines, and recent alerts. Ask “What needs my attention?” and Markus checks across the workspace data you have access to.
File Attachments
Upload images and documents directly into the chat — drag and drop, paste from clipboard, or use the paperclip icon. Markus reads the file contents and incorporates them into its analysis.
Shareable Conversations
Create a read-only link to any conversation and share it with colleagues or clients. The shared view displays the full conversation without edit access. Available on Starter and above.
Background Jobs
Long-running tasks — such as drafting an office action response or analyzing a TTAB proceeding — run in the background. Markus shows a live status card in the conversation, and the result appears when the work completes. Background jobs persist across page reloads, so you can navigate away and return to find the finished result.
Queued Follow-ups
While Markus is generating a response, you can type your next question and it will queue automatically. The composer stays active during streaming, so you can keep drafting without waiting.
Response Feedback
Rate any response as helpful or not helpful. If you mark a response as not helpful, you can select a reason to help our team improve Markus.
Rephrase Responses
Ask Markus to rephrase any answer without running new research. Choose from three options: make the answer clearer, shorter, or client-ready.

Tips & Best Practices
Be specific about classes — “Search for APEX in Class 9” gives more relevant results than just “Search for APEX”
Use follow-ups — After a search, ask “Which of those are in Class 25?” or “Compare the top two”
Ask about your data — Markus can access your clients, tracked owners, and alerts. Try “Summarize my client Acme Corp” or “What alerts fired this week?”
Use proceeding numbers for TTAB — “Analyze proceeding 91285431” works better than “Find the opposition between X and Y”
Request analysis, not just search — “Analyze the prosecution history of serial 90244982” gives a strategic summary, not just raw events
