When you search in GleanMark, each result card shows key trademark information at a glance. This guide explains what each element means and how to use it.

What Each Result Shows

Mark Name & Type

The trademark name appears in bold, followed by a badge indicating the mark type:

  • Word — standard character mark (text only)

  • Combined — text + design elements

  • Stylized — specific font or lettering style

  • Design — logo or design mark

  • Nonvisual — sound, scent, or other non-visual marks

Status Badge

Color-coded badges show the current registration status:

  • Green (Registered) — active registration on the Principal or Supplemental Register

  • Cyan (Pending) — application is under review

  • Red (Dead) — abandoned, cancelled, or expired

  • Live/Dead indicator — quick visual for whether the mark is active

Owner

The owner name is a clickable link. Click it to view the owner’s full profile — all their trademarks, filing trends, and TTAB history.

Numbers

  • Serial Number — the USPTO application number (always present)

  • Registration Number — only shown for registered marks

Nice Classes

International classification numbers (1-45) indicating what goods or services the mark covers. Hover for class descriptions.

Goods & Services

A description of the specific goods or services covered. Search terms are highlighted within the text.

Dates

  • Filing Date — when the application was filed

  • Registration Date — when the mark was registered (if applicable)

Additional Elements

  • Trademark image — specimen or drawing (when available)

  • Checkbox — select marks for side-by-side comparison (up to 5)

  • Discussion count — comment/collaboration indicators (for authenticated users)

Clicking a Result

Click any result to open the full Trademark Detail Page, which includes:

  • Complete prosecution history with event timeline

  • USPTO documents (office actions, specimens, amendments)

  • Assignment history

  • TTAB proceedings

  • Similar marks analysis

  • Examiner information

  • Notes and team comments

Using Filters

The filter sidebar narrows results in real time:

  • Match Type — exact vs. sounds-like matches

  • Status — registered, pending, cancelled, abandoned

  • Mark Type — word, combined, stylized, design

  • Nice Classes — filter to specific product/service categories

  • Owners — narrow to specific entities within results

  • TTAB — marks with active, past, or no TTAB proceedings

  • Date ranges — filing, registration, and last activity

Facet counts update as you apply filters — you can see exactly how many results match each criterion.

Tips

  • Click the owner name to quickly see if a company has a large portfolio in your class

  • Use the checkbox to select 2 marks and run a confusion analysis directly from search results

  • Sort by “Last Activity” to find marks with recent prosecution events

  • Filter to “Pending” status to find applications still under review — these are potential future conflicts
