The Lead Feed in Office Action Research surfaces applicants who recently received a USPTO office action and have no attorney of record. Each lead carries the applicant’s name, mailing address, and (where available) email and phone, plus the refusal grounds and an estimated response deadline — so you can reach out before the deadline.
Lead Feed is a paid add-on. See Access and Locked Preview below.
What You Can Do
Review recent leads for applicants with an office action and no attorney of record
Search the feed by mark or applicant name
Filter by recency, outreach readiness, response status, mark status, OA type, refusal type, Nice class, examiner, owner portfolio size, and applicant country
Sort the feed by urgency, OA date, or mark name
Export the matching leads
Set up email digests and a personal lead filter
How It Works
Go to Office Action Research — Open
/oa-researchOpen Lead Feed — Select the Lead Feed tab
Search the feed — Use the Search mark or applicant name… field
Apply filters — Use the Lead Filters sidebar
Sort results — Use the sort dropdown in the header strip
Export matches — Click the export icon in the tab row (tooltip: Export leads)
Set digest preferences — Click the gear icon in the tab row (tooltip: Set lead filters and email preferences)
Header Strip
Above the results, the feed shows:
Search mark or applicant name… — searches the feed by mark or applicant name
A sort dropdown with these options:
Most urgent (deadline soonest) — the default
Newest OA first
Mark A–Z
A count line such as N unrepresented applicants, with a Clear filters action when filters are active
On smaller screens, tap Filters to open the filter sidebar in a drawer.
Export and Preferences
Two quick-action icons sit at the right end of the tab row:
The Export leads icon downloads the current matching leads as a CSV. The export uses your current search, filters, and sort. If no rows match, you see No leads match the current filters. Large result sets are capped at the platform’s export limit. If the export fails, you see Export failed — please try again.
The Set lead filters and email preferences icon (gear) opens the Lead & Email Preferences dialog.
Lead Filters
The left sidebar is titled Lead Filters and shows the current matching count.
Recency
Limit office actions by age:
30d
60d
90d
OA within
[number]days
A note below the input reads: Up to 120 days of office actions are available.
Outreach Readiness
Has email
Address only
Include hired-counsel — a toggle. When it is off, the feed shows only applicants who are still unrepresented (Counsel off — only applicants who are still unrepresented.)
Response Status
No response filed
Response filed (ROA)
Mark Status
Filter by the application’s current status, drawn from the feed (for example, Pending, Registered, Abandoned).
OA Type
Filter by office action type. The options are labeled:
Non-Final
Final
Refusal Type
Filter by refusal grounds shown in the feed. When there are more than eight, use Show n more / Show less to expand the list.
Nice Classes
Filter by Nice class, shown as Class 1, Class 9, Class 35, and so on. When there are more than eight, use Show n more / Show less.
Examiner
Use the Examiner name… field to filter by examiner.
Owner Portfolio Size
Focus on smaller filers, who are less likely to have counsel:
Solo filer (1 mark)
Small (1–5 marks)
Up to 20 marks
Applicant Country
Filter by the applicant’s country, using the country values shown in the feed.
Lead Cards
Each result is a lead card. A card shows the mark name (with a hover preview and a link to the OA research detail), the application status, mark type and class badges, the refusal grounds, and an estimated days-to-respond deadline pill. The applicant name links to the owner page, and the email, phone, and mailing address have copy buttons. A Copy lead action copies the name, contact details, and OA details in one block. Cards you have already opened this session appear dimmed.
The feed is paginated; use Previous / Next below the results to move between pages.
Lead & Email Preferences
The gear icon opens the Lead & Email Preferences dialog. The dialog has two tabs: Email digests and Lead filter. These preferences are personal to you — teammates set their own. Click Save to apply both tabs, or Cancel to close without saving.
Email digests
Daily digest — every morning there are new matches
Weekly digest — Monday roundup of the week’s matches (on by default)
The tab also summarizes your current lead filter as badges. If no filter is set, it reads No filter — digests cover every new unrepresented applicant.
Lead filter
The Lead filter tab lets you define a personal filter for your digests, separate from the feed’s live session filters. It shows the number of unique applicants in the last 30 days and a live estimate of how many the current filter would have matched in that window — your expected monthly digest volume.
Access and Locked Preview
Lead Feed is a paid add-on available on the Professional and Max plans. If your account does not have access, the tab shows a locked preview instead of the full feed. The preview includes summary stats, three sample lead cards, and a Download sample CSV button in the exact format of exports and digests.
The call to action depends on your plan and status:
On Professional or Max without the add-on, you can unlock the full feed (you review the charge before confirming)
On a trial of an eligible plan, the unlock becomes available once the trial converts to a paid plan
On other plans, Upgrade to Professional to become eligible for the add-on
For current add-on pricing, see the Billing page in your account.
Tips
Start with Has email to prioritize the easiest outreach
Use No response filed to focus on applicants who have not yet answered the office action
Narrow by Refusal Type and Nice Classes to build a targeted outreach list
Set a personal digest filter under Lead & Email Preferences so new matching leads come to you, without changing the live feed
