Criteria for Becoming a Gospel Worker (GW) on Switchboard

What are the criteria to be a Gospel Worker on Switchboard?

Written by Julie Zavodny

Switchboard connects believers with ministries based on their skills and passions, empowering everyone to play their part in advancing the Great Commission. Ministries that wish to join Switchboard as Gospel worker must meet the following criteria to ensure alignment with our mission and the values we uphold:

✝️ Have a Great Commission Bottom Line:
Gospel workers must demonstrate that their primary mission is to fulfill the Great Commission—spreading the gospel, making disciples, and glorifying God globally. Ministries should clearly show how their vision, activities, or partnerships support this mission. For some, such as BAMs or those operating in restricted-access countries, publicly sharing this mission may not be possible, which is entirely acceptable and does not disqualify them from joining the platform. Any individual who devotes the majority of their time to working with or for a ministry is eligible to participate in Switchboard.

👀 Be Reviewed and Validated by Switchboard:
Every Gospel worker will undergo a review process to ensure alignment with Switchboard’s mission and values. This process involves submitting detailed information about the ministry's goals, structure, and past work. Often, this information can be verified through the organization’s website or through its affiliation with one of Switchboard’s trusted partner mission organizations. If these sources lack clarity (such as BAMs or those working in closed countries), Switchboard will arrange a brief call to learn more about the organization, its mission, and how it aligns with the Great Commission.

🗣️ Be Able to Read and Communicate Conversationally in English:
To facilitate seamless collaboration and communication, Gospel workers must be able to read and write in English at a conversational level, as our current platform and all notifications are in English. This ensures clear interactions between Switchboard, volunteers, and other platform users.

⏰ Respond to Communications Promptly:
Gospel workers must be able to respond to communications from Switchboard and potential volunteers within 2-3 business days. Timely responses are critical to fostering a positive experience for all parties and maintaining the momentum of mission-driven projects.

💻 Have Reliable Access to Technology:
To ensure smooth collaboration, Gospel workers must have access to essential technology, such as a smartphone or laptop, and to reliable cellular data or Wi-Fi. This allows organizations to stay connected with volunteers and utilize Switchboard’s platform effectively.

🚫 Agree Not to Use the Platform for Fundraising:
Switchboard is designed to enable believers to freely give their time and talents to further the mission of the Great Commission. To preserve this spirit of generosity, Gospel workers must agree not to use the platform to request financial contributions or conduct fundraising activities.

By meeting these criteria, ministries demonstrate their commitment to advancing the Great Commission and creating meaningful opportunities for believers to contribute their skills. Together, we can connect ministries with skilled volunteers to make a lasting impact for the kingdom.
