Announcing Our Enhanced Connection Catalog: New Categories & Skills

When we launched a few years ago, we started with a catalog of offerings determined by our initial conversations between us and our community. How can we translate needs into real expertise? Well, we're proud to announce our catalog is growing. We have nearly doubled the amount of specialties/skills on Switchboard. Read below to figure out what's changed:

🎉 What’s New?

We've added new categories full of new skills to help Kingdom Consultants describe their gifts and Great Commission Organization request the help they need
We've split some existing categories to help keep things to easy to flip through and find what you are looking for in our catalog
We've moved some skills to different or new categories.
We've renamed some categories and skills to better reflect what our community of believers expects from those catalog items.

Impact of Changes

These updates affect Kingdom Consultants and Great Commission organizations alike.

For Kingdom Consultants (KCs):

New skills and categories will appear when building or editing your profile
Some of your existing skills may be mapped to a new category. For example, we moved "Bookkeeping" from Life Skills to Accounting and Finance

So what?

Update your profiles with the new skills and categories to enhance your visibility and match with relevant projects. Update your profile!

For Great Commission Organizations (GCOs):

There are new skills available when making virtual role requests on Switchboard
1. That means our AI model will now reference these when helping to build your request
2. And you can select these new skills or categories if you build your virtual role request manually
You will also notice some new categories and skills appearing in the catalog when requesting a one hour consultation.

🚧 Disclaimer:

We have not yet recruited volunteers for all of these new skills. That means that virtual roles with newer skills take longer to create a match.

Likewise, since some of these new skills do not have any recruited Kingdom Consultants, you cannot currently create a one-hour consultation request with some of our newest skills.

Once a skill has a few KCs ready to join consultations, you'll see those skills become available in the catalog.
