Manual Authorization required is similar to the bank saying "do not honor", but if the user calls the bank they can manually authorize. This requires a manual authorization in order to verify that you are the cardholder and authorized the charge. This is to protect against unauthorized use of your credit or debit card.

Some of the reasons why this is sometimes necessary are:

  • Your billing address could not be electronically verified (for example, if your credit card company does not maintain an address verification database); or
  • You are requesting delivery to a different country than your billing address indicates; or
  • Additional security measures are required, either by the product type, the total amount, or other risk factors.
