Learn how to add users to teams and manage team visibility in Elate to manage your strategic plan at every level of your business

Updated over 9 months ago

Navigation in Elate is centered around a team structure to help everyone at your organization see information that is relevant to them. Setting up teams and assigning your employees to the correct teams will allow all of your Elate users to find information around the strategic plan more easily. By default, some teams are already entered into the Elate platform but if they don't apply to you, you're able to delete and edit teams as necessary!

On the left side panel, you will see a My Teams and Teams section. The My Teams section gives your team quick access to teams they are on. the Teams section shows all teams in your organization.

Adding and Editing Teams

To add a new team, press the + button on the left side panel next to the Teams heading.

The new team will be added and you're able to rename it.

To rename a team, add users, or delete a team, select the 3 dot menu next to the team name.

Managing Team Members and Visibility

To add or remove team members, select the Manage Team option from the 3 dot menu next to the team name. If you have not created users yet, check out this article about how to add users.

If you have users you want to assign to the team, type their name in the "Add a user to this team" box then select the blue Add to Team button. From this screen, you're able to change the team visibility as well. The team can be public or private. If the team is private, only users on that team and those who have the Organization Role of Admin will be able to see this team in the platform. If the team is public, all users will be able to view the team.

You're also able to change team visibility and manage users directly from the team overview page. Once on the team overview page, you are able to select the +Add Team Members button to add/remove team members and/or you can select the icon next to the team name to change the visibility of the team.

Adding Subteams

In addition to adding teams, you can create a hierarchy in your team structure in Elate but adding subteams. This will help you set up Elate exactly as your department and team structure is set up.

To add a subteam, click the plus next to a team you want a subteam for. In this example, clicking the plus next to Marketing adds a subteam for Marketing.

As you can see, the subteam is indented below the marketing team, and the marketing team now has a caret next to it (because it has a subteam). The same functionality is available here to use the 3 dot menu next to the subteam to manage team members, rename the team, or delete it.

Please Note: if you want the members of a subteam to be on the main team it falls under, you will need to add them to BOTH teams. The subteam objectives WILL NOT show up on the main team overview page as well. Subteams function as their own team but will visually show how your department/team structure is set up.
