In addition to the system member fields stored in your member roster (e.g., name, email, birthday, cell phone, etc), you can also include custom fields (e.g., shirt size, shoe size, grip size, etc). The benefits of having custom fields include the ability to:
Store and access any detailed member information from the member profile.
Identify a custom field as the member number to be displayed next to the member's name.
Use custom fields as data fields in automated text message and email templates.
Filter bulk emails and survey emails by custom field.
In this article, we will discuss how to create and manage member custom fields.
Member Profile Categories
You may want to create member profile categories to keep your fields organized into appropriate categories. This is especially suggested if you have a large number of custom fields.
In the example member profile below, there are three member profile categories (apparel sizing, driver fitting specs, merchandise preferences) that contain their appropriate custom fields.

By creating these categories, it will be much easier to find the information you are looking for.

Importing Custom Fields from TM or Spreadsheet
If your roster syncs with your TM roster, then the custom fields from your TM roster will be imported and synced every other day. You can then choose to hide or display the imported custom fields by going to Club Details > Members > Custom Fields, editing a field, and selecting/unselecting "Display in Edit Form".
If your roster is not synced with TM (managed via spreadsheet), custom fields can be imported via spreadsheet by your account manager or Golf Genius Support team. You can also create them manually.
Creating Custom Fields Manually
In addition to the custom fields imported from TM or by spreadsheet, you can manually create custom fields. To do this, go to Club Details > Members > Custom Fields > New Custom Field (as shown below).
Enter the following information:
Name: Custom Field Name.
Category: Optionally select the member profile category to contain the custom field.
Description: Enter the custom field description that will be displayed internally when editing the field.
Display Order: Enter the order in which the field is displayed in the custom field area of the member form. Every custom field should have a unique number to determine the display order.
Display in Edit Form: When selected, the field will be visible in the member form and the custom field data can be entered. If unselected, the custom field will be hidden.
Member Number: If the field is considered the member number (or any type of member identifier), select this option. The custom field's data will then be visible next to the member's name in various areas of GGGS to help identify the member. There can only be one custom field selected as the member number.
After saving the custom field, it will then be listed on the custom field summary page (as shown below).
β
Importing Custom Fields via Survey
Sending membership surveys is a great way to collect important member information (e.g., sizing information, member preferences, what's in the bag?, etc). When sending surveys, you can import the responses into the member profiles as custom fields. This puts the data entry in the member's hands (and not yours).

Editing Existing Custom Fields
You can view and edit current custom fields by going to Club Details > Members > Custom Fields (as shown below). Use the action drow-down to edit or delete an existing custom field.
Entering Custom Field Answers
To enter custom field answers, go to Club Details > Members > Roster. Edit a member and enter the custom field data (as shown below).
If you are using TM roster sync, you can lock custom fields so that they cannot be overwritten by the roster sync. For instance, if you change a member's shoe size and lock the custom field data, the TM roster sync will not overwrite your change.
Auto-Filling Custom Field on Special Order Forms
There may be member custom field answers that could be auto-filled into a special order form. For instance, if "Pant Size" is contained as a member custom field, you can link that field with a product detail custom field. When doing so, the member's pant size would auto-populate into the special order custom form when entering an order for pants.
This can be done by creating a product detail custom field (to be used for customizing a product category's custom form) and linking it to a member custom field. When editing a product detail custom field, you can select the associated member field (as shown below).
