We're excited to introduce the new Gondola Editor β a more powerful and flexible way to manage your website. This guide walks you through what to expect during and after the migration.
During the Migration
While we set things up, your current website continues to work as normal. Here's how the process works:
Your existing website remains fully functional. Nothing changes for your visitors. Your live site stays online and accessible throughout the entire migration process.
Working with the New Editor
A new preview website will be provided at a separate URL, accessible directly from the new editor interface. This is your sandbox to explore and customise your new site.
Changes you make in the new editor only affect the new preview site. They do not alter your live website in any way.
Changes made via the Gondola app (tours, blogs, categories) continue to be published to your live site as usual, and will also be visible in the new editor, so your content stays in sync.
Action | Live Site | New Editor Site |
Edits in the new editor | No effect | Updated |
Content via Gondola app | Updated (as usual) | Updated (synced) |
Going Live
Once you're happy with how everything looks in the new editor, follow these steps to switch over:
Let us know you're ready. Send us a message confirming that you'd like to go live with the new site.
Wait for our confirmation. We need to configure a few things on our end before you switch. We'll let you know when everything is ready.
Update your DNS records. Once we give the green light, update your domain's DNS settings as described below.
DNS Configuration
You'll need to update two DNS records with your domain registrar or DNS provider:
Record | Type | Name | Value |
Root domain |
|
|
|
www subdomain |
|
| your root domain (e.g. |
Example: if your domain is amazingtours.com, set the root record (amazingtours.com) as an A record pointing to 216.150.1.1, and the www record (www.amazingtours.com) as a CNAME pointing to amazingtours.com.
Allow time for DNS propagation. DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to fully propagate. During this time, some visitors may still see the old site. This is perfectly normal.
