Engagement rate is a metric created by Goodkind to measure how deep your contacts engaged with your story. The question it helps answer is how much your story resonated with the individual you've sent it to.

Engagement rate's calculation includes the percentage of the video watched by the contact as well as various behaviors on the page including call to action interactions, shares, hearts, and more.

The formula used for engagement includes a set of weights assigned for the following behaviors:

  1. Watch rate: 50%

  2. Hearts: 10%

  3. Clicks Donate: 30%

  4. Share: 10%

Once engagement rate is calculated on the video story shared with each contact, it is averaged for campaigns and storytellers to give you an indication of how your storytelling is resonating at various levels.

The highest engagement rates seen on the Goodkind platform are one to one video stories and the videos are not scripted.
