Whether you are a video recording ninja or a first-time video recorder, you can find yourself staring at the camera wondering how to best deliver the message. Here's how you can make the most of your recording task assignment.

(1) Bring personality to the camera

  • The advantage of video is allowing yourself to be human with prospective students. It is important to be yourself on camera and give off good vibes to students who are seeing you for the first time.

(2) Choose an appropriate location

  • If there’s too much wind or external noise - you’re in the wrong place! Ensure you are the primary focus of your video.

(3) Be mindful of lighting

  • Shadows can play tricks. Make sure that lighting is illuminating you as the focal point and not casting shadow over your face.

(4) Incorporate your school

  • Video is a great tool for showcasing what your school has to offer. Use this opportunity to showcase campus or an important part of the school community. Your office is a fine place to record but think bigger!

(5) Represent your brand

  • Got some extra school swag laying around? Convey school spirit with what you wear!

(6) Have fun with it!

  • It’s tempting to stick to the script and record once. But ensure that the video recording experience is an enjoyable one for yourself by leaning into it completely. Add your own personal flair!
