Goodkind uses Automations in Campaign Monitor to send Goodkind emails. Automations in-turn uses Lists in Campaign Monitor to store contacts that are sent by Goodkind.

To setup Campaign Monitor the following are the pre-requisites

Once you do the above

Notes to keep in mind

  • If you plan to use the same email template to same group of people multiple times, you need to create a new list each time.

  • If you need to use a new email template, you need a new automation, we recommend linking a new automation with a new list, Campaign Monitor can behave unpredictably when two or more automations are pointing to the same list.

Getting Workspace API ID

Click on your name in Campaign Monitor and go to Account settings

Click on API Keys

You will see a screen as below. Click on "Show API Key" to get your API key.

Note: The API key is sensitive information and it shouldn't be shared publicly.

Create a List

Click on "Lists and Subscribers" and Click on "Create a List".

Follow the steps as per the prompts from Campaign Monitor. Once the list is created, click on "Custom Fields"

The custom fields are needed to ensure that the data from Goodkind sends to campaign monitor as intended.

Here are the fields that need to be added:

Field Name

Why is it needed

video_url

Finally, Click on the List Settings and Copy the List ID

Next, let's Create an Automation

Click on Automation and Choose "Custom Journey"

Then give a name to the automation and Choose the atuomation type as "Subscriber Joins the list". Choosing this type means that a contact can be added only once to a campaign monitor list, if you want to send the message to the same group again, you will need a new list.

Next choose the list created with for this Automation. Again, we recommend using one list with one automation.

Now you will be asked to add a new step the automation. You need to add one step, namely adding a email

At this step you need to change the following

Give the step a Name, a simple "Goodkind email" as name suffices, feel free to name it as you see fit.

For subject enter the value [email_subject_title] (ensure the square braces are included).

for the From field, use the value as you see fit.

Next Click on Content to select the email template from Goodkind.

Email Template with Customization

In order to ensure that the videos are embedded properly, ask your Success Manager to provide you with a Goodkind email template customized for your organization. Goodkind will provide you with new templates as and when you need them.

To add a new template Click on your name on the top right corner and choose "My Templates".

Click on "Create a Template" and choose upload your own HTML. Name the file appropriately as this name will be used when choosing the email template in Automation"

Adding campaign Monitor details to Goodkind

Once you have completed the Pre-requisites on Campaign Monitor side, you need to go to Goodkind to complete the integration.

Go to Settings in Goodkind and click on "Delivery Channels"

Enable the Button on Campaign Monitor, enter the API ID and the List ID(s), there is no limitation on how many List IDs you can add.

Click on "Save changes" to confirm the settings. The connection happens instantly and you can use the lists immediately in a campaign.

Launch a Campaign

Launching a campaign using Campaign Monitor is no different than how you launch a campaign otherwise. There is one setting to take care of on the last page before launching a campaign.

On the "Summary page", Click on the pencil icon next to "Email template"

Choose the appropriate list ( all your Campaign Monitor lists that you added in Goodkind show up here) for the campaign. If you don't choose the list at this step, it will result in nothing being sent out from Campaign Monitor.

Review the email subject line, and you are ready to Launch the campaign.
