TabBand Integration

Print it, stick it, done — MaxID labels straight from the invoice, no handwriting required.

Written by Huong Pham

Why We Built This

Handwriting an ID band for every pet takes time — and every hand-copied detail is a chance for a mistake. Many facilities rely on TabBand's waterproof labels and breakaway collars to identify pets during a stay. Until now, that often meant writing each pet's name, room, and stay details by hand, sometimes the night before a busy shift, with nothing connecting the band back to the reservation in Goose.

TabBand has been one of our most-requested integrations, so we built it right into the workflows you already use for run cards. Goose now prints TabBand MaxID labels and Thermal Collars directly from your reservation data, and an optional QR code on each band brings your team straight back to the pet's stay in Goose — without ever leaving the pet's side.

What It Means for You

  • Prep tomorrow's arrivals in one click. What used to take hours of writing is now a single Print All Labels button — choose a date and service types, and every arriving pet's MaxID label prints in one go.

  • Fewer mix-ups at check-in. Pet name, owner last name, and service icons come straight from the reservation, so there's no transcription step to get wrong.

  • Goose travels with the pet. Scan the band's QR code with any phone to open that pet's invoice — record feeding, medication, and activities right where the care happens.

  • Set it once, print the same way every time. Pick your band type and the fields that matter most in Print Settings. Your choices are saved for every future print.

  • Keep the system your team already knows. MaxID labels stick onto TabBand Max Collars, rooms, bowls, and belongings, so your color-coding and SOPs stay intact.

How It Works

TabBand printing lives alongside run card printing in Goose. It supports two TabBand products: MaxID labels (a 5/8" x 3" waterproof sticker) and Thermal Collars (a custom-length breakaway collar).

1. Turn on printing in Print Settings.

Go to Configuration Settings → Print Settings, turn printing on, and select your TabBand type (MaxID or Thermal Collar). Pet name, owner last name, and service icons always print. Choose any optional fields you want: QR code, room name, visit dates, owner phone number, facility name and phone, breed, coat color, age, and altered status.

2. Connect your printer.

Set up a compatible printer for your band type — the Zebra ZD411 for MaxID labels or the Star TSP700II for Thermal Collars. Printer settings are adjusted on your computer, outside of Goose.

3. Print all arriving pets at once (only for MaxIDs).

On the Dashboard, select Print All Labels, choose one or more service types and a date, and print. You can also print arriving run cards and arriving labels from the print buttons at the top of

the Reports page. This feature does not work with thermal collars.

4. Print a band for each pet.

From the invoice edit page, open the Run Card and Label drawer to preview and print. You can also print from More Actions on the Payments page. It's the quickest way to replace a band that's been lost or broken off mid-stay.

5. Scan to open the pet's stay.

Scanning a band's QR code opens that pet's invoice in Goose, optimized for mobile. If you aren't logged in, you'll be asked to log in and then taken straight to the same invoice.

A Few Things to Know

  • Print All is available for MaxID labels. Thermal Collars are printed one pet at a time.

  • Bands have a small printable area. If a field's text is too long to fit, that field is shortened rather than dropped, so every field you selected still appears. Some optional fields have limited space on MaxID labels.

  • Print Settings apply at the location level, so everyone at that location prints the same way.

  • A band shows the reservation details at the moment it was printed. If a stay changes after printing — a new room, for example — reprint the band to keep it current.

  • What a person sees after scanning a QR code follows their Goose user permissions.

  • Printers purchased through POSGuys include complimentary setup support at 1-800-903-6571, or use this link to browse compatible printers.

Setup required before you start printing

TabBand printing stays off until you turn it on. Enable printing and select your band type in Configuration Settings → Print Settings, then connect a compatible printer. Questions? Reach out to Goose support — we're happy to help you get set up.
