Write Off a Partially Paid Invoice

In a scenario where you may need to write off the remaining amount on a partially paid invoice, follow these steps.

1. Open the partially paid invoice and click Edit

2. Change the price of the invoice to remove the amount you'd like to write off (for this example, the invoice is $75, but a partial payment has been added for $50. I'd like to write off the remaining $25).

3. Copy the invoice number

4. Save

After saving, that will mark that invoice as fully paid. Then, you will need to:

1. Create a new invoice

2. Add a line item reflecting the amount you'd like to write off

3. Add a note in the notes section and paste the previous invoice #'s amount you're writing off.

4. Save

5. Change invoice status to Write Off

6. Save
