How Can I Confirm and View My Tax Return Submissions in GoSimpleTax?

To ensure your tax return has been successfully submitted in GoSimpleTax, you can follow these steps to confirm and view your submission history. This guide also explains how to handle amended returns and understand submission details.

Confirming Tax Return Submissions

To confirm that your tax return was successfully submitted to HMRC:

  1. Open GoSimpleTax and log in.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Submission History.

  3. Look for your submitted return in the list. If the return was successfully received by HMRC, you will see a Correlation ID. This ID serves as proof of submission provided by HMRC.

Viewing Submission History

The Submission History section in GoSimpleTax provides a record of all your submitted tax returns. To access this:

  1. Go to Settings > Submission History.

  2. You will see a list of submissions organized by tax year. Each entry includes the date of submission or amendment.

Submitting an Amended Return

If you need to resubmit your tax return because HMRC already lists it as submitted, you can submit an amended return in GoSimpleTax:

  1. Open your tax return in the app.

  2. Proceed through the steps by selecting Save, Continue, and then Yes, as you did for the original submission.

  3. On the “Almost There” page, mark the submission as an amended return.

  4. After submitting, confirm the submission by checking Settings > Submission History.

  • Correlation ID: This unique reference number is provided by HMRC and confirms that your submission was successfully received.

  • Amended Returns: When submitting an amended return, ensure it is marked as such during the submission process. This ensures accurate records in both GoSimpleTax and HMRC systems.
