Interact with Customer Contacts: Tap & Hold

This article contains instructions on how to use the tap and long-press actions from the Job > Customer Screen in the FieldAware Mobile App.

The FieldAware mobile app supports quick actions on phone numbers and email addresses in the Job > Customer screen. Whether you're using iOS or Android, you can easily call, message, email, or copy contact details with just a tap or a long press.

iOS Users

Call, Message, or Copy a Phone Number (Long-Press)

  1. Open a Job in the mobile app.

  2. Scroll to the Customer or Contact section.

  3. Long-press the phone number.

  4. A menu will appear with standard iOS actions:

    • Copy

    • Call

    • Send Message

    • Add to Contacts

    • Share

💡 Tip: Great for quickly sending a text or saving the number without leaving the app.

Send an Email (Tap)

  1. From the same Customer section in a Job, find the Email field.

  2. Tap the email address, it’s styled to show it’s tappable.

  3. Your device’s Mail app will open with a new draft to that address.

Email Actions (Long-Press)

  1. Long-press on the email address in either the Customer or Contact cell.

  2. A standard iOS menu will appear:

    • Copy

    • Send Email

    • Add to Contacts

    • Share


Android Users

Call, Message, or Copy a Phone Number (Long-Press)

  1. Open a Job.

  2. In the Customer or Contact section, long-press the phone number.

  3. A context menu will appear with Android options such as:

    • Phone

    • Copy

    • Share

    • Additional actions (varies by device)

Send an Email (Tap)

  1. In the Customer section of a Job, tap the email address.

  2. Your default email app will open automatically with a new message ready to send.

Email Actions (Long-Press)

  1. Long-press the email address in either the Customer or Contact section.

  2. A menu will appear offering actions like:

    • Copy

    • Share

    • Add to Contacts

    • Open in email app


✅ Why It Matters

These small changes make it easier and faster for technicians to:

  • Contact customers while en route

  • Share job updates

  • Copy and save contact info without switching apps
