Organizations and Branches

Enterprise Model sees the introduction two new entities - Organizations and Branches.

An Organization is made up of multiple branches. An Organization represents the corporate level of the business; Branches represent the regional divisions in which the technicians are based.

Most business settings are configured at the Organization level, but there are some settings that can be configured at Branch level.

Branch Settings:

  • Branch address

  • PDF Address Setting

  • Default Crews

  • Timesheet and Time Log Settings

Organization Settings:

  • All of the standard Company Settings are moved to Org. Level

  • Org. Roles and Rights

  • Create and manage Branches

  • View and manage Users

  • Custom Fields Settings

Organization level settings apply to all branches. In other words, if I enable cost in the Organization Settings, then it will be enabled for all branches in the organization.

Data Segregation

Job, Quote, and User data is segregated into branches. In other words, jobs, quotes, and users from Branch A ‘belong’ to Branch A, jobs, quotes, and users from Branch B ‘belong’ to Branch B. This is called the Base Branch.

As an administrator, you can permit your webapp users to access data in other branches, or you can restrict them to access data in their own branch only. This means that dispatchers and schedulers can see the schedules of neighbouring branches to know if they can borrow technicians from them. This concept is explained in detail later.

Branch Selector

The first visual change you will notice in an Enterprise business is the Branch Selector. This is a dropdown menu located in the banner at the top of the web page.

The Branch Selector lists all the branches to which you have Full Access or View-only Access. The selected branches set the context for the whole application. The selection does not change as you navigate between tabs, thus giving a consistent view of the data at all times.

To filter out jobs from a different branch, remove the branch from the Branch Selector. To view jobs from another branch, simply add it to the Branch Selector.

At this time only Jobs, Quotes, and Users are segregated into branches, so the Branch Selector only affects those lists. All other lists are shared across the organization, so changing the Branch Selector will have no effect on Customers, Assets, Invoices, etc.
